Coryat's
Crudities: Bram Arnold
Experiment
Bram, travelling independently to Nottingham, was to embark upon a search for park benches and similar seating provisions within walking distance of the town centre. These benches would then become spaces in which to think, taking in a broad range of ideas and opinions, from the writings of Thomas Coryat to observations of contemporary society. The observations, devoid of premeditation, were then to be transcribed onto notepaper and attached to the bench with duct tape and left behind.
The mappers were then required to find these benches, and – with no foreknowledge of their whereabouts and in full acknowledgement of the possibility that nothing would be left – record in map form their locations and message.

Findings
Ten messages were left by Bram. But perhaps not entirely surprisingly, none of them were found intact by the mappers during the course of the weekend. This was despite a fairly exhaustive survey of Nottingham's benches, with the locations of over 160 benches being recorded.
